Money talks! Importance of Professional English

Just like your full time job, learning English can feel like a task that needs 24/7 attention and effort.

You have to start out with basic training, spending many hours learning words from endless lists of vocabulary. You may have to start reading books and watching English TV shows or movies.

English is a global language of business, trade and commerce. Learning English is a commitment and when it comes to Professional English, it is an important commitment which can change both your personal and professional life for the better.

English for professionals is not too casual. Your speaking style changes to suit a more formal setting. You might need to address customers or even your boss, more formally as opposed to a casual tone used with your friends and family. Polite language and an additional set of words for your industry is a good start to learning professional communication.

Every profession has its own set of special terms. In order to speak professional English, you need to use these terms to speak clearly about the job with your coworkers. For example, a lawyer would have to learn words used in the courtroom while a doctor or pilot would learn words to be used in a medical or aviation setting respectively. These words, also known as jargon, are special words, used within your trade or professional group which you may not learn in a regular English class.
